Modern Requirements Management

No sustainable economic success without an efficient Requirements Management!

The complexity of technical products increases permanently. So does the amount of demands, requests and suggestions for defining a product. You'll soon arrive at a point where the available resources are not sufficient any more to implement all or at least the majority of the requirements. You'll have to select and pick out the best deals - welcome to Requirements Management.

The major objective of Requirements Management is to process, analyse, prioritize, select and package the most promising ones out of a bulk of requirements having been raised towards a product or a service. It works only with tailored processes which formally support where support is needed and which are accepted by all stakeholders. A pragmatic approach for defining the processes is a main challenge as any unnecessary bureaucracy has to be avoided which would inevitably create internal resistance. Complementary tools can be introduced with the challenge that the tools have to map the processes rather than the processes have to adapted to the tools.

Requirements Management is an integral component of Product Management. However, it can also be introduced as an autonomous organizational unit of enterprises.
